2011 Miss America pageant winner
The annual Miss America pageant aired tonight and the winner has just been announced. Your 2011 Miss America is Miss Nebraska Teresa Scanlan – the youngest Miss America since the pageant implemented age limits in 1938. Rosemary LaPlanche which was runner-up in 1940 and easily won the crown in 1941 despite being one month too young to compete.
Teresa Scanlan is of Croatian ancestry. Her maternal grandparents, Frank and Nives Jelich, immigrated to the United States from Ilovik, Croatia.
She said age didn’t matter as the pageant celebrated its 90th birthday, though she thought her age might have made her an underdog. “We were on an even playing field,” she said. “From 17 to 24, that can be a huge age range. But with these girls, they are all at the highest level imaginable.”
Nothing is more befitting than tights
Today tights are important a absolutely necessary part of our everyday fashion wardrobes to say nothing about tights we wear during cold seasons getting with them extra protect against the cold. Wearing tights both men and women enjoy with their warm, comfortable, fashionable, and feeling nice on. More commonly thought of tights is they are worn primarily by women and girls but actually specifically designed tights have become more and more common using by men now. Perhaps you don’t know but in past, just a few centuries ago, tights were intensively used by men as a regular practical garment for horseback riding which was, as you know, just their daily life.

Talking about modern using of this garment no one can argue the point that woman’s tights and pantyhose have become the most popular item of woman’s hosiery, they just allow every woman to look fashionable, chic, trendy and avoid looking monotonous. There are widest selection of colorful stockings, tights and lingerie on the market and you can put your fashion foot forward with the such fabulous collection as Henry Holland tights which have a wonderful look and feel and are available in a range of lovely colors and patterns by affordable price.

Top five hair myths
Like all the many wives tales out there, there are countless ones about hair as well. Here are five of the most believed hair myths in the world:
1. Cutting your hair makes it stronger or grow faster.
This is just not a true statement Exactly where this myth started is unknown, but is probably related to the observation of men’s facial hair. There are different kinds of hair on your face and head. Hair on your head and facial hair have different properties. Cutting your hair will only make it shorter and hair grows almost exactly half an inch per month, no matter what you do or take.
2. Split ends can be repaired.
Unfortunately this is not true. Split ends cannot be repaired and should be cut off immediately or they will split yet higher and do yet more damage. Sad, but true.
3. Brushing your hair is good for it.
To the contrary, brushing your hair is very bad for your hair and the leading contributor to split ends and hair breakage. By all means groom your hair, but once it is in place, do not carry on and on and on. Therapeutic it may be, but it does more harm than good.
4. Tight hats cause baldness.
This one probably started in the military where young men entering the service were required to wear hats and soon showed signs of going bald, or at least of hair thinning. This is due to coincidental timing. The age that young men enter the military is also the same age that male pattern hair loss begins. This is due to dihydrotestosterone, not hats. Hats do cause hair breakage and to a lesser degree lead to split ends.
5. Hair can turn grey or white over night.
Hair receives its colour genetically and can only turn grey or white over very long periods of time. Actually the hair doesn’t turn white in as much as the hair loses colour, but not over night, or even over a stressful weekend!
Don’t believe every myth you hear about hair, or anything, for that matter. Although, if you want to know more facts about your hair, or just get inspiration for a new hairstyle, visit ghdhair.com. ghd is the famous maker of hair straighteners, and care for your hair just as much as you do.
A Denim Dilemma
Having moved away from London last year I can’t say that there’s too much that I miss, but there are a few things, especially on the shopping front.
Some shops are completely missing from my new Northern home and don’t even get me started on the lack of funky boutiques and vintage stores. Yes, I know I shouldn’t complain but I’ve just spilt ribena all over my favourite pair of G star jeans, the stain will not budge and I need to find a replacement sharpish!
As we all know jeans shopping is a bit of a nightmare so when you find a brand with a style that works for you, it’s always best to stick with it. I love, love, love the G star womens jeans with a bootcut, which make me look like I actually have legs and when worn with some killer heels they are perfect for dressing up on a night out. Of course, they’re also super comfy.
I’m hoping that the world wide web is going to offer me a helping hand and I find somewhere that stocks them, because train tickets to London cost more than my jeans at the moment!
If not then I’ll hit the high street and see what I can find, although finding jeans for someone with short stubby legs like me is no mean feat. My top tips for finding jeans for short legs are; pick straight leg or bootcut styles as these elongate the leg, whereas skinny fits tend to make you look bigger on top than you actually are.
Dark denim tends to be more flattering and versatile as it’s easy to dress up or down, although at the moment there are some fantastic light blue denim shorts floating around, which have been the main festival staple of the year with the likes of Emma Watson, Sienna Miller and Kate Moss rocking them at Glastonbury.
Jeans, and denim in general, are absolute classics and are a modern wardrobe staple but with so many different styles around, it makes you wonder why it’s so damn hard to find a decent pair! Although, I recently found this great shopping site online – Very.co.uk. They sell everything from casual everyday clothes to pretty party dresses, and everything in between!

This 18 karat bloomed yellow gold Dandelion ring from the McTeigue and McClelland collection has spelled me with its charming beauty. The design is really unique with its balancing of classic and vintage styles that finally looks delicate and sturdy. I just love it!

Their bridal collection, which is carried at Bergdorf Goodman, specializes in durable designs that are tailored to the stone. Celebrity Beauty Secrets
The answer was: What does it take to remain a Beauty Queen? Thatns the internet, that is the most powerful and widest spread communication, we can read and hear from celebritirs their secrets on how to stay young and beautiful. You may say that the answers would be easy predictable – it might be ravishing beauty, hour-glass figure, glamour, red-hot style, charisma and intelligence. But beside that there is a lot of difference between perception and reality. Many contestants do have this combination, and they make it to the top but then sadly, slide from the top.

“I have never considered myself to be beautiful. I didn’t have the face to be an actress. The metamorphosis of Shilpa Shetty was slow and steady. See my first film and see me today. There’s a vast difference. I have changed so much. Physically, mentally…” – Shilpa Shetty
Let’s have a look at some of those beauty queens, who are on the top.
Kate Bosworth has had her makeup done by Sharon Gault, who prefers blotting papers to powder for oily T-zones, because they absorb oil without changing the appearance of the makeup. If you run out of blotting papers, take a facial tissue and peel the two sections of tissue apart, and use one of these.

French supermodel Laetitia Casta told Elle Magazine about her beauty secrets. “The products I use are not necessarily the same brand”, Laetitia said. “They happen to suit my hair, or my face, and they are generally very ordinary. To remove makeup, I use a baby bath lotion, which I buy at the pharmacy. I apply it to my face with a very pure, soft cotton wool, the usual cotton pads for removing makeup literally scratch my face! My skin tends to get dry, so I apply a very light cream, by Avene. For my lips, which are also often dry, I use a cream which contains vitamin A. Also, I always carry a spray bottle of Evian spring water.”
