Floral’s are big at the moment. They can be floaty, bold, feminine or contemporary and can bring any living room bang up to date. Of course the furnishings or sofas itself can be floral. At the moment there are plenty of sofa designs that incorporate a floral design. These can be found in block colours or on a pattern on the upholstery itself. If you don’t think you’re quite ready to splash out on a floral sofa however, you can go for cushions and throws.

You can consider floral patterned curtains or blinds. Remember, if you decide to go for a patterned curtains keep the wall a plain and vice versa or the room will look too cluttered. After all, floral is already a busy pattern to use. This is the same rule for a patterned sofa.

However, a brightly coloured plain sofa can look great against a floral pattern. Just use the same colours for the furniture that appear on the wallpaper.

Statement wallpaper is everywhere and floral is a popular pattern. We’re not talking about small, fussy and cluttered designs but huge motifs that will make any room look contemporary. A good way to introduce such a design is by papering one feature wall. You can pick paper that uses bold or warm colours, or a neutral scheme can look fantastic set off by bright accessories such as curtains, vases and picture frames. Pink floral’s can be overly feminine so if that’s not the look you’re after go for light and dark reds and warm orange or terracotta shades.

Then of course you can use flowers themselves. In vases and in pictures, as small details they will look lovely on an extending dining table and compliment other floral’s you have splashed about in the room.

If you have ever stood in an outdoor clothing shop feeling slightly bewildered by the huge range of products available, you are not alone. You might have worked out the difference between water proof and water resistant. You may have decided that it is a good idea to buy a breathable fabric for your waterproof trousers and whether or not your budget allows for purchasing clothing made from one of the high tech fabrics, such as Gore Tex. But what on earth does all the information on the label mean? What is the millimetre figure displayed by many manufacturers and what on earth is “g”?

In a nut shell, waterproof and breathable materials stop water, such as rain, getting inside but let vapour, such as perspiration, out. Standard laboratory tests are carried out and a category assigned to the clothing to let the consumer know just how effectively it does its job.

Water resistance defines how much water the waterproof clothing item can withstand before it “leaks”. Breathability defines the rate per 24 hours at which vapour (measured in grammes) escapes through a square metre of material, expressed as g/m2/d or the more consumer-friendly “g”.

In order to be called waterproof, a fabric must have a rating of at least 1,000mm. Top quality fabrics can have as high a rating in both categories as 20,000 whilst a decent mid range garment will have a rating of 5,000mm and 5,000g.

Tests carried out in the University of Leeds’ Rain Room have, however, shown that some fabrics with a rating of less than 1,000mm have been able to withstand five times the rate of heavy British rain for a period of up to four hours. Similarly, fabrics with a superior rating can be let down by leakage through zips and seams. Consumers should also be aware that factors such as temperature and humidity can affect the breathability of a fabric.

The fact is a wedding is very special day for most of us. But also this is the most expensive occasion for even the most humble bride and groom. The Diamond Wedding Gown is a collaboration of Renee Strauss, owner of a highly successful bridal salon in Beverly Hills, and Martin Katz, who deals in rare jewels. Featuring 150 carats of diamonds, the dress is valued at US $12 million.

The world’s most expensive wedding gown was unveiled at the premier Luxury Brands Lifestyle Bridal show in February of 2006. Later in the year, Dubai’s Fashion & Diamonds show also featured a gown touted as the world’s most expensive wedding dress. Yumi Katsura’s design, however, is only valued at $8.5 million. Despite being only the second most expensive wedding dress, it features 1,000 pearls and one of the world’s only two 5 carat white gold diamonds.

A creation of the designer Yumi Katsura of Japan, the second most expensive wedding gown is valued at $8,5 mill. It has over 1000 pearls and one of only two 5 carat white gold diamonds in the world.

With 2009 peacock feathers, representing the unveiling year of 2009, this dress is both expensive and quite pe(a)culiar.

J-Lo/Affleck wedding dress: unknown value, but the designer claimed it to be the most expensive she had ever made.

- Imperial Pearl Syndicate gown: sports 100.000 pearls and was valued at $100.000 back in the 50’s when it was made.

- Princess Diana’s wedding dress: unknown value, designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, featuring a 25 foot long train.

- Melania Trump’s Gown: Cost unknown, Weight = 50 pounds! Get married AND work out at the same time…

- Catherine Zeta Jones/Douglas: Wedding dress cost unknown, wedding total cost = $1.5. Probably a big chunk of that money was paid to the designer of the dress, Christian Lacroix.

- Mauro Adami wedding dress: valued at £240.000, or around $380.000.

- Vanisha Mittal wedding dress: Price unknown, but for the most expensive wedding in history she probably had one of the most expensive wedding dresses in world.

The 8th World Miss Universe became 22-year-old Miss Japan Akiko Kojima in far 1959. She was the first woman from Japan to win the Miss Universe title. Traditionally the ceremony was held in Long Beach, California, USA but also it was the last year that the pageant was held there before its move to Miami Beach,Florida in 1960.

It’s no wonder that when she finally arrived in Tokyo, glaring lights of 100 cameramen and shouts of 1,200 welcomers at Tokyo’s International Airport. Far more excitement than when their Prime Minister Kishis arrived at the same spot just three days earlier after a month-long trip to Europe and Latin America. So we can see, a homecoming for a Miss Universe has always been a very big event.

Around 80% of women in the UK wear the wrong bra size – this may be because they simply don’t have enough time to get a fitting or because they think they know their size. The problem is many things can affect your bra size, including weight gain or loss, pregnancy, hormones and of course the type of bra can affect what size you need too!

If you’ve noticed that your bra doesn’t fit properly – maybe it’s too loose or too tight, causing unsightly lumps and bumps, but either way it’s well worthwhile getting a proper fitting at a lingerie store to make sure you’re wearing the right size to begin with. Of course you don’t actually have to buy anything from the store but once you know the right size you can hunt around to find the right bra for you.

Wearing the right size bra can have many benefits; giving you an added lift where you need it, or helping keep your assets under control if you’re lucky enough to be blessed with a cup size over DD. Of course some ladies will need extra support in the form of thicker straps and underwiring, so it’s important to check that you’re getting the support you need too. A lack of support can leave red marks on your shoulders and back and even lead to longer term back aches and pains. The online clothes shop K and Co offers both casual and designer designer plus size lingerie for those with some extra curves. And underwear for petite ladies as well, of course.

Of course it’s not all just practical! The right size bra can create smooth lines underneath your clothing, give your assets a boost and give you a sexy silhouette. Pretty underwear is also something of a psychological asset – after all if you look good you feel good and you’ll find yourself walking around with a smile on your face after donning some pretty new lingerie; it’s like a secret that no one else knows about!

So next time you’re putting together a new outfit for a night out, make sure you don’t forget the most important part – the underwear!

Ever fancied yourself as a little bit of a catwalk queen? Well now you too can create a supermodel style with the help of a ghd hair straightener. The innovative hair styler allows you to create a top-notch runway worthy hairstyle in minutes!

In order to create such a look you will need to begin by blow-drying the hair; do this only after applying a thermal heat protection spray however. Such a product will protect the locks from the high temperatures of both your hairdryer and your styling irons. A good brush to use in order to create such a style is the ghd anti-static brush; this will work to lift the locks away from the face whilst styling them.

The next stage requires lightly misting the hair with a creation spray; this will hold your new style in place for much longer!

You will then need to part your hair into a total of two sections, taking the ghd styling iron, place the styler in at the roots of the hair and rotate it at an angle of 180-degrees for best results. You should then pull the styler through the length of the hair until you reach the tips. If you wish to define the curl even further, wind the styled section of hair around your finger in a loose fashion.

Invest in a few hair accessories such as anyone of this season’s stylish hair bands in order to add a little bling to your new hairstyle.
Finish by styling the hair in a central parting and placing your newly purchased hair band on your forehead and around the top section of your hair.

Add a little polishing serum and a spray of ultimate hold hairspray. If you really want to push the boat out however, invest in a few clip-on hair extensions. Pre-curl these extensions prior to placing them in your hair; this will create the effect of fuller and thicker hair.

Visit ghd’s own hairstyles guide at http://hairstyles.ghdhair.com for more inspiration. Here, you can get great tips, watch styling videos and check out the fantastic hairstyles gallery.
