Floral is the way to go
Floral’s are big at the moment. They can be floaty, bold, feminine or contemporary and can bring any living room bang up to date. Of course the furnishings or sofas itself can be floral. At the moment there are plenty of sofa designs that incorporate a floral design. These can be found in block colours or on a pattern on the upholstery itself. If you don’t think you’re quite ready to splash out on a floral sofa however, you can go for cushions and throws.
You can consider floral patterned curtains or blinds. Remember, if you decide to go for a patterned curtains keep the wall a plain and vice versa or the room will look too cluttered. After all, floral is already a busy pattern to use. This is the same rule for a patterned sofa.
However, a brightly coloured plain sofa can look great against a floral pattern. Just use the same colours for the furniture that appear on the wallpaper.
Statement wallpaper is everywhere and floral is a popular pattern. We’re not talking about small, fussy and cluttered designs but huge motifs that will make any room look contemporary. A good way to introduce such a design is by papering one feature wall. You can pick paper that uses bold or warm colours, or a neutral scheme can look fantastic set off by bright accessories such as curtains, vases and picture frames. Pink floral’s can be overly feminine so if that’s not the look you’re after go for light and dark reds and warm orange or terracotta shades.
Then of course you can use flowers themselves. In vases and in pictures, as small details they will look lovely on an extending dining table and compliment other floral’s you have splashed about in the room.
