Miss Universe 1958

The 8th World Miss Universe became 22-year-old Miss Japan Akiko Kojima in far 1959. She was the first woman from Japan to win the Miss Universe title. Traditionally the ceremony was held in Long Beach, California, USA but also it was the last year that the pageant was held there before its move to Miami Beach,Florida in 1960.

It’s no wonder that when she finally arrived in Tokyo, glaring lights of 100 cameramen and shouts of 1,200 welcomers at Tokyo’s International Airport. Far more excitement than when their Prime Minister Kishis arrived at the same spot just three days earlier after a month-long trip to Europe and Latin America. So we can see, a homecoming for a Miss Universe has always been a very big event.

Bras for all sizes

Around 80% of women in the UK wear the wrong bra size – this may be because they simply don’t have enough time to get a fitting or because they think they know their size. The problem is many things can affect your bra size, including weight gain or loss, pregnancy, hormones and of course the type of bra can affect what size you need too!

If you’ve noticed that your bra doesn’t fit properly – maybe it’s too loose or too tight, causing unsightly lumps and bumps, but either way it’s well worthwhile getting a proper fitting at a lingerie store to make sure you’re wearing the right size to begin with. Of course you don’t actually have to buy anything from the store but once you know the right size you can hunt around to find the right bra for you.

Wearing the right size bra can have many benefits; giving you an added lift where you need it, or helping keep your assets under control if you’re lucky enough to be blessed with a cup size over DD. Of course some ladies will need extra support in the form of thicker straps and underwiring, so it’s important to check that you’re getting the support you need too. A lack of support can leave red marks on your shoulders and back and even lead to longer term back aches and pains. The online clothes shop K and Co offers both casual and designer designer plus size lingerie for those with some extra curves. And underwear for petite ladies as well, of course.

Of course it’s not all just practical! The right size bra can create smooth lines underneath your clothing, give your assets a boost and give you a sexy silhouette. Pretty underwear is also something of a psychological asset – after all if you look good you feel good and you’ll find yourself walking around with a smile on your face after donning some pretty new lingerie; it’s like a secret that no one else knows about!

So next time you’re putting together a new outfit for a night out, make sure you don’t forget the most important part – the underwear!

Get the catwalk style

Ever fancied yourself as a little bit of a catwalk queen? Well now you too can create a supermodel style with the help of a ghd hair straightener. The innovative hair styler allows you to create a top-notch runway worthy hairstyle in minutes!

In order to create such a look you will need to begin by blow-drying the hair; do this only after applying a thermal heat protection spray however. Such a product will protect the locks from the high temperatures of both your hairdryer and your styling irons. A good brush to use in order to create such a style is the ghd anti-static brush; this will work to lift the locks away from the face whilst styling them.

The next stage requires lightly misting the hair with a creation spray; this will hold your new style in place for much longer!

You will then need to part your hair into a total of two sections, taking the ghd styling iron, place the styler in at the roots of the hair and rotate it at an angle of 180-degrees for best results. You should then pull the styler through the length of the hair until you reach the tips. If you wish to define the curl even further, wind the styled section of hair around your finger in a loose fashion.

Invest in a few hair accessories such as anyone of this season’s stylish hair bands in order to add a little bling to your new hairstyle.
Finish by styling the hair in a central parting and placing your newly purchased hair band on your forehead and around the top section of your hair.

Add a little polishing serum and a spray of ultimate hold hairspray. If you really want to push the boat out however, invest in a few clip-on hair extensions. Pre-curl these extensions prior to placing them in your hair; this will create the effect of fuller and thicker hair.
